Set strike is tonight at 6pm. All help is needed and welcomed (including screw guns!!!).
Thanks Lisa for bringing the trailer.

We need to strike the complete set and take everything to the warehouse.
Also clean dressing room and the wings of costumes and props.

Good day Cast and Crew,

It will be good to see everyone tonight after a couple of days apart.

Tonight's rehearsal is a Brush-Up rehearsal at 7pm
We will run the show top to bottom, and then work any problem areas afterwards. No costumes or make-up tonight. We will run full lighting and set changes.

I want to emphasize the importance of having a fun, yet serious rehearsal tonight. We have to give our full attention to the show to reinvigorate, re-energize, and get pumped for 3 more performances.

Reminders:
- Cast Photo forms are backstage. Order your cast photos before end of show on Saturday.

- Cast Party Saturday Night after the show in the Little Theatre. Bring a snack or beverage to share. We will have KARAOKE!!!

- Turn in your scripts/scores Thur-Sat, 6:30-7:00pm each night and get your $20.00 deposit back. You can turn them into Victoria.

- Set Strike will be Monday Oct 5 at 6pm - please please please come and help us take the set completely down and over to the warehouse. We will need many hands and screwguns; as well as cleaning dressing rooms and green room.

Saturday night, after the show in the Little Theatre (that's Oct 2).

Sign-up sheets to bring snacks or a non-alcoholic beverage will be up in the Green Room on Wed.

And to end the run of our show on a high note, we're gonna have.....

KARAOKE!!!

That's right, we have a Karaoke machine with over 2500 songs coming for the party!!!!

Great job and congratulations to the Cast and Crew of Joseph. The first weekend of shows was very well-done and absolutely amazing. You performed for 1172 people over the weekend and the theatre is extremely lucky to have everyone involved and committed to the production. Well done!!!

Now a couple of days to rest and relax......then back at it.

Wednesday September 30 - Brush-Up rehearsal at 7pm.
This is a top-to-bottom run-through of the show with cast AND crew.
No costumes or make-up - other than Joseph's coat and any other costume bits people want to practice with.
This is a very important rehearsal as it allows us to get back into the show and back to performance level.

It's Applefest weekend so give yourselves plenty of time to reach the theatre - parking will be scarce and hard-to-come by.

Cast of Joseph wear hospital scrubs donated by Dr. William Fritz to the show & theatre. The scrubs will be part of the ensemble costume for the show.

"When the concept of using medical scrubs as part of the costume came up, we just thought it was natural to get one of the local surgeons involved," said producer Victoria Beal. "Dr. Fritz generously offered to buy all the suits we needed. Now, thanks to Dr. Fritz, the theatre has 30 sets of scrubs that will be used for this show and I'm sure you'll recognized bits and pieces in Barrow shows for years to come!" Beals continued.

We're building set on Saturday Aug 29 10am-6pm.

The scissor lift arrives at 8am to be driven up the lobby into the theatre.

When a crew arrives, it's a warehouse run for the wood, foam and other materials to build the platform legs and fronts. Goal this weekend is to get platforms UP and foam on the faces of the platforms and temple. Then as that gets down, base paint everything...

Our Detailing Artist will be painting and detailing the proscenium Sat and Sun....

Lots to do for people who can wield screwguns, run the table saw, and help gather set pieces and materials. Need your help

Each time a rehearsal notice is posted on the blog it will also list those who need to be there (barring pre-determined conflicts of course).

This is flexible on our part (the directors) and may change if we feel we need more or less people in a number so please be understanding and open to adjustments.

Congratulations to the cast of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. We are excited to welcome you to the production and look forward to working over the next month and a half to Opening Night.

An All-Cast meeting is schedule for Wed. August 12 at 7pm-9pm in the Little Theatre. All cast who didn't mark it as a conflict should be there. We will be handing out Cast Information, Scripts and more. All cast need to provide a $20.00 deposit for their show materials. Scripts/scores are collected at the end of the show and you will receive your deposit back.

We will also be rehearsing some music Wed night.

Can you feel the excitement building? Auditions are this coming weekend for the next musical production at the Barrow-Civic Theatre.

Director Ted Smith, Music Director John McConnell and Choreographer Marc Holland are ready to hold auditions Sat Aug 8 and Sun Aug 9 at the BCT Little Theatre. Youth Grades 4-9 will audition at 2pm either day; older youth and adults will audition at 3pm either day.

Grades 4-9 do not need to prepare music; everyone else should prepare a short musical piece to be sung for auditions. In addition, everyone will be taught a short dance combination-please wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

No prior musical, acting or dance experience is required for this community theatre production!

Barrow-Civic Theatre to hold Joseph auditions.

FRANKLIN – The Barrow-Civic Theatre will hold auditions for its upcoming production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber smash hit musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” on August 8 and 9, 2009.

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is an exciting, energetic, funny–yet poignant – operetta about Joseph and his coat of many colors. Based on the biblical story, Joseph had many adventures in his life, beginning with his father and brothers. Through a series of twists and turns, Joseph was sold into slavery, placed in prison, was later released, and eventually became second in importance to the Pharaoh.

Each scene is a vignette of Joseph’s life, performed in song, tied together with narration. Each song is performed in a different musical style: rock n’ roll, country, calypso, bop – you name it – Joseph has it. The variety is one of the reasons Joseph has been so successful. Each scene is different, both musically, and visually. It is an exciting adventure for the audience and the performers alike. As an operetta, there are few spoken lines.

Produced by Franklin Civic Operetta Association, “Joseph” will play for six shows September 25-27 and October 1-3 at the Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin PA. The show runs over Applefest weekend in October and typically plays to sell-out crowds.

Joseph was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The show is being directed by Ted Smith, who has previously directed “Kiss Me Kate,” “The Wizard of Oz”, and “Sweet Charity.” Music Direction will be by John McConnell, previously seen in “The Sound of Music” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” as well as many other productions over the years. Local choreographer, and Broadway veteran, Marc Ellis Holland will be choreographing this highly entertaining and dazzling production. The production is being produced for FCOA by Mary Ann Richardson and Victoria Beals.

There are roles for men and women, including children grades 4 through 9. Leads include the roles of Joseph and the Narrator. Also to be cast are Joseph’s brothers, Jacob, Pharaoh, and several other characters, including an Ensemble and Children’s Chorus.

Interested actors should be come ready to sing a prepared piece of music from musical theatre. An accompanist will be provided. CDs must not have background vocals, and a cappella is acceptable. Those auditioning will also learn a short dance combination (dance experience is not required). All roles are open.

Auditions will take place on Saturday August 8 and Sunday August 9 in the Barrow-Civic Little Theatre, 1223 Liberty Street, Franklin PA. Children will audition at 2pm either day and adults will audition at 3pm either day. Please use the alley door off the Little Theatre. No appointment is necessary for auditions.

Music Director Selected

The production team is pleased to announce John McConnell will be filling the role of Music Director for FCOA's production of Joseph.

John brings a wide and experience background in musical theatre, having starred onstage in many productions, and directed/music directed productions as well. John's background includes a career in Music Education with Oil City High School. He also served as the General Manager of the Barrow-Civic Theatre before retiring.

We're excited to have John on board with the rest of the team and look forward to seeing you all at auditions.
